Web of Water (WOW) Video Project

 

 

 

 

 

This set of educational webisode videos and half-hour broadcast documentary was done in cooperation with SCETV and the Lowcountry Environmental Education Program (LEEP). OPP followed naturalist Ian Sanchez from Table Rock, SC to the Charleston Harbor (a three week adventure). In the process Ian met students, rangers, scientists and everyday folks interpreting the rivers of South Carolina.

The Web of Water documentary along with the Finding Pura Vida movie have aired on ETV, throughout 2009.

In April 2008 we had a documentary release of Footprints Journal: Finding Pura Vida. This DVD and "Kids with Cameras" book project was made possible thanks to our friends at The Quiksilver Foundation & Nalgene. Falling Together in New Orleans

Some featured vignettes below from the award winning video series. We will be planning some screening and fund-raising events around the 5th anniversary of the New Orleans Levee Faiure in 2010 so keep an eye out.

 

Social Dress New Orleans - 730 Days After 

Takashi Horisaki and a small team of volunteers were working 20-hour days in the 100-degree heat when OPP found them completing an art project in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans. Working on a largely abandoned block of the city, they worked with a mission to remind people of "what is still happening" in NOLA two years after the floods. Takashi's Blog

Emergency Communities in the Lower 9 (from Vignette 3)

Emergency Communities is a non-profit organization that employs compassion and creativity to provide community-based disaster relief. Since Katrina, they have operated four relief sites, served over 300,000 meals and 25,000 residents of the Gulf. [emergencycommunities.org]

Pura Vida Fundraiser - Cali Style

In a great example of good vibes spreading, a group of female surfers in Hermosa beach found a copy of the Organic Process - Finding Pura Vida movie on Amazon.com, watched it and were inspired to contribute to the cause. Over the past few months they organized the Pura Vida No Pro Fashion Show Fundraiser which happened in Hermosa Beach, CA on November, 23rd.

Fearless PVNP Media Director, Tim McManus (now with PDA doing full time video business development) took the trip to Cali to participate in the festivities (and of course catch a few waves) and brought back some photos. The event raised several thousand dollars for the Casa De Suenos orphanage in San Jose, CR.

Thanks to everyone who was inspired by the film and took action.
