Solo Journalism

A big news company can bring amazing resources to bear on a big story: Crews of reporters, editors, engineers and producers who process information across multiple markets and formats, rapidly rendering complex events and ideas down to something digestible within the culturally internalized rules of modern mass media.

Organic Process isn't out to replace that system, but to offer a radically simple supplement to the all-too-familiar, institutionalized voice of processed corporate news: the solo journalist. One person, speaking with all the clarity and frailty of a single voice. The mission: To observe, record and communicate. Honestly and openly.

Gathering and sharing information is as natural a human impulse as any other communal instinct, but it is only in the past decade that our species has acquired the technological tools that allow individuals to share their stories on scales that challenge the old monopolies of traditional news media.

Though 21 century citizen journalism is of great interest to academics, investors and consultants, solo journalists like Farrah Hoffmire aren't waiting for others to define their roles. They're exploring the stories that interest them, trusting their instincts and adapting technology to meet their needs as they arise.

OPP intends to encourage such efforts, and we hope you'll participate in this grand experiment by becoming part of it.

The components of Solo Journalism incorporate all the media experiences we create, including our documentary movies, video blogs and events
